Grief, the elephant in the room 🐘

TL;DR (but hope you do), download my free guide for grief support, Unconventional Support for the Waves of Grief here, and for intuitive + energetic support for the Spring Season, grab my Spring Forecast for $22 through March 19th.

As much as I try to focus on joy, grief is the elephant in the room. Asking (or rather, demanding), to be seen, felt, heard, witnessed. Don’t push me down it says. Don’t look the other way, it begs. Let me be here. Let me take up space.

My dad died over 6 years ago and it wasn’t until the 6-year anniversary this year that I finally felt “ready” to attend a grief group. Sure I went to some right after his death, but I was so “in it” at the time that being surrounded with other grievers (and all their emotions) was too much.

So here I am, 6 years later, sitting in a group at Solace House with people freshly in the grief space. Parents and siblings gone and grief mounting. Rather than feel overwhelmed with the emotions bubbling up, I find myself more at ease this time around. The “veteran” so to speak. Laughter finds its way in as someone shares a common experience we can all relate to.

The time and space of having 6 years pass since my dad’s death has softened the grip of grief on me in many ways, even though it can creep up on me out of nowhere and stop my world in its tracks.

I found it fitting to return to my yoga mat as I embarked on this next chapter in my grief journey. After my dad died, I started taking hot yoga. The sweating helped me release some of the pain I had been holding in. It was a sort of detox for my soul, permissioning me to loosen the grip grief held so tightly around my heart and throat.

I happened to take a restorative yoga class this past week (my favorite as many of you know!), and the instructor, Ricky, introduced a theme of support for the class. Suggesting that props give us permission to be supported. He encouraged us to explore the theme of support in our lives.

How often do you let yourself receive support? How often do you push it away? How difficult is it to ask for support?

In my opinion, asking for help is a humbling experience. When you’re more comfortable giving help than receiving help, the grief journey has a lot more bumps.

So in honor of receiving support, I wanted to share my free guide, Unconventional Support for the Waves of Grief. It’s the thing I wish I had after my dad died (and it’s a great thing to have as someone who is supporting a griever, too).

Feel free to share the love and pass it on to someone you love.

And if you’re in the market for more support, my Spring Forecast is now available as an instant download through March 19th. Details below!

Tarot with Abby

TL;DR (but hope you do), I’ll be opening my schedule in August for emailed + recorded tarot readings! If you want to join the list and be the first to know, you can do that here. Hey, Reader, Today I'm talking all about Tarot. Let’s get a few things out of the way upfront: Tarot in and of itself is not fortune-telling, scary, or a predictor of anything. It’s a set of cards with images on them and is what you make of it. I approach tarot in a medicinal way -sort of like an herbalist working...

Greetings friends! Since I’ve taken a step back from social media, I’ve decided to send a lil 5-part email series to connect and share with you. My “work” is ever evolving as I continue to receive life lessons and dive into new modalities and ventures. My latest loves are tarot (per usual), parts work (IFS), and cranial sacral therapy with an undercurrent of mind-body medicine. On to part 1 of this series... Isn’t it interesting how the Universe will send you lessons whether you want them or...
