Kickstarting Joy

Welcome to another installment of The Sunday Slow-Down, my weekly(ish) newsletter where I share stories, tips, and unconventional tools to help you tap into joy, even when times are tough.

Autumn is here! Happy October!

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about joy and how critical it is to cultivate joy, especially during difficult times.

Reminder: You are absolutely worthy of experiencing joy.

The idea of rest as an act of resistance and joy as an act of justice are movements I'm passionate about, and I wonder if you are too - because who couldn't use a little more rest and joy right now??!

I invite you to ponder what’s wrapped around your joy right now -

  • Does your joy have space to move, breathe, be in existence?
  • How might you become more familiar with the experience of joy?
  • Where does joy fall on your list of priorities?
  • What misconceptions or “stories” do you have around joy that inhibit you from fully allowing it?
  • What would it be like to allow more joy into your life?

One of the most effective ways I've found to tap into joy, regardless of my mood or circumstances, is laughter yoga.

If you’d like to dive into some laughter yoga with me, I’m leading a free virtual class on Tuesday, 10/3 at noon CT / 1 PM ET. I’d love to you have you. It’s 45 minutes and you can stay for as much or as little as you want.

In this with you,

Abby

PS I’ve decided to take a break from emailed tarot readings, so I’ll only be offering them through the end of the month. If you want to grab one while they're here, you can order one through my store 💕

🌊 Have you downloaded your free guide, Unconventional Support for the Waves of Grief? It's full of somatic goodies to help you nourish your nervous system. 🌊

If you enjoy these emails, I invite you to forward them to others who might, too!

Tarot with Abby

TL;DR (but hope you do), I’ll be opening my schedule in August for emailed + recorded tarot readings! If you want to join the list and be the first to know, you can do that here. Hey, Reader, Today I'm talking all about Tarot. Let’s get a few things out of the way upfront: Tarot in and of itself is not fortune-telling, scary, or a predictor of anything. It’s a set of cards with images on them and is what you make of it. I approach tarot in a medicinal way -sort of like an herbalist working...

Greetings friends! Since I’ve taken a step back from social media, I’ve decided to send a lil 5-part email series to connect and share with you. My “work” is ever evolving as I continue to receive life lessons and dive into new modalities and ventures. My latest loves are tarot (per usual), parts work (IFS), and cranial sacral therapy with an undercurrent of mind-body medicine. On to part 1 of this series... Isn’t it interesting how the Universe will send you lessons whether you want them or...
